Building a fiddle

In 2023, I decided to build an electric fiddle based on the instrument in the song “Oh the Dreadful Wind and Rain.” It’s kind of an odd idea, but I had a specific reason to make this instrument. I have a series of songs I’m writing called “Parables of the Deep South,” and the idea behind the songs is to attack some strange beliefs many people have about the American South and its history. “Dreadful Wind and Rain” is a version of Child Ballad #10, which in turn is a telling of a particular myth called “The Singing Bones.” The idea is that a musical instrument made from the bones of a murdered person will sing the identity of the murderer.
